The best way to describe mlm lead generation is a crap shoot.

Years ago we tried to generate our very own leads. What we found out is that we either would lose our shorts and get 2 or 3 people interested or we would end up with a million leads and nobody would be interested.

We learned from that experience and we are now starting to learn many different options exist out there that we never knew about.

We have found that in the best interest of ourselves and our downline--we now leave mlm lead generation with the professionals. Let them produce the expensive ad copy for the campaign, let them find a resonable source to advertise with and then they can share the pre-quailified lead with us.

Costs are the bottom line problem. To generate a quailified lead; specific to our opporunity, we have paid in excess of $100 per lead. After we followed up with these expensive leads we found they were no more qualified than a regular phone book number. In fact some of our lead sources you might even be familiar with couldn't produce a lead better than a phone book.

We've learned from our past mistakes and we will never do that again. Experience is our best teacher and it might be a wise idea to let our past failures help you avoid the exact same pitfalls we had. But that is your choice--kind of like the old frame oil filter commercial that said: "pay me now or pay me later". Same applies here.

If you ever contact a reputable mlm lead generation source, they will tell you that in order for them to make any money "what-so-ever", they need to sell the leads several times or sell them for a lot of money. MLM lead generation is costly. $4-$6 per lead is the norm and--NO, the internet does not make it cheaper. What we are finding out now is that the internet is getting bogged down with so much junk, the reputable companies are now beginning to turn their back to print media to generate a lead. They are doing this for several reasons.

1. it will definitely create a double opt in or make a prospect respond
twice before it becomes a bona fid mlm lead.
2. the quality of the prospects are increasing
3. the costs are dictating this method

We should add a fourth reason. These leads are GUARANTEED. What a blessed assurance, knowing you can try them and if they don't work out you can get your money back. Wouldn't you agree?

Honestly, we use these types of leads all the time in our marketing and training efforts. MLM phone leads, mlm local leads, real time mlm leads and fresh mlm leads are a major part of our email marketing campaign. We do not place all our eggs in one basket, instead we spread our efforts out. 5 point prospecting is what we call it.

Bottom Line: we should not concern ourselves with cost per lead as much as cost per new member. Who cares what you pay for a lead as long as you can convert them right? However, the price of a lead will greatly increase or decrease the cost per new member.
